The company BAND SERVIS was founded in 1991 in Zlín as a service company providing service and repairs of electrical hand tools.

The Company started to expand in 1992 when BAND SERVIS was selected as the service partner of the biggest world-wide producer of electrical tools – the company DEWALT and Black&Decker for the former Czechoslovakia. Further expansion of the Company by establishing branches in the Czech and Slovak Republics followed. The next step towards expansion of the Company’s services has been introduction of the system of Repairs Collecting Centres (Sběrné středisko oprav) with all significant retailers of electrical hand tools in the Czech Republic. In 2004 BAND SERVIS was awarded the prestigious award of the Best Service Partner of the concern DEWALT in Central Europe. The year 2005 was marked by further expansion of the Company by opening of the most recent and up-to-date Company’s branch in Vienna, the capital of Austria.

All repairs are carried out according to standards prescribed by the producer and using original parts. All employees are trained directly at the producer at least 1x a year, where they are also acquainted with all innovations. The service company gives a six-month guarantee on the carried out repair. On request a repair can be carried out within 48 hours and within 24 hours in the central repair shop in Zlín.

HISTORY OF THE COMPANY

The beginnings of BAND SERVIS date back to the 1990s. Deep political and social changes in the former Czechoslovakia started restructuring of key manufacturing and servicing industries and enabled thus the formation of many new companies. Those were the pathbreaking years, when gaps on the product and services market were identified and filled with great enthusiasm and often literally from the scratches.

Immediately after its formation in 1991 BAND SERVIS focused on repairs of electrical hand tools. Thanks to the professional approach, skills and enthusiasm of all the Company employees it soon became an important service partner of the biggest local producer of electrical hand tools, the company Narex Česká Lípa. In 1992 the Company much profited from the experience gained during this cooperation; BAND SERVIS was selected, following a demanding competitive bidding procedure, as the service partner of the biggest world-wide producer of electrical tools – the company Black&Decker for the former Czechoslovakia. The number of brands, for which the Company provides authorized service is increasing to include also other brands of Black&Decker, Elu and DEWALT. This year has thus become one of the significant milestones in the Company’s history. It was followed by the Company‘s gradual growth and related expansion of its activity into other regions in line with its the basic idea and motto: to satisfy the most demanding customers by continuous extension of offer of services and their improvement. In addition to the newly built head office in Zlín branch offices in Prague, Brno, Ostrava and Hradec Králové were established. Branch offices were also established in Slovakia in the towns of Trnava, Žilina and Košice. Another step towards expansion of the Company’s services has been introduction of the elaborate system of Repairs Collecting Centres (Sběrné středisko oprav) with all significant retailers of electrical hand tools in the Czech Republic, through which the customer may submit his inoperative tools for repair. In cooperation with the PPL collecting service these tools are then twice a day transported to central repair shops and after repair delivered either directly to the customer or back to the Collecting Centre. In 2004 the effort of BAND SERVIS to constantly improve provided services was appreciated by the award of the prestigious award of the Best Service Partner of the concern Black&Decker in Central Europe.

When the Czech Republic acceded to the EU BAND SERVIS was prepared to expand to the newly opened markets and so the most recent and up-to-date branch of the Company was established in the capital of Austria, Vienna, in 2005. This is where our brief excursion into the history of BAND SERVIS ends. However, it's not the end of our efforts, with which we’ll keep seeking new possibilities of how to best meet your, our customers', demands.

COMPANY PROFILE

Due to our service partnership with both the biggest world-wide and local producers of electrical tools we are bound to comply with the strictest company standards. The tools are received into repair and subsequently released at the Company’s branches by a specialized worker, who provides to the customer all available information about the required repair, determines its preliminary price and last but not least makes recommendations of how to prevent possible failures. Customers may of course acquaint themselves with the latest products of tool producers represented by the Company and purchase both small spare parts and new products.

During the repair and after its completion all tools are subject to a strict and complex 4-step check:
 
  1. Logistician – visual receiving inspection of spare parts to stock.
  2. Mechanic – regular check of all functional properties and basis electric parameters of tools.
  3. Tester – output control of all electric and safety parameters of the tool according to the Czech National Standard ČSN 331600, loading of the control results in PC.
  4. Customer – visual inspection of the tool, possibility of testing it in the TEST CENTRE
Ideal technical background, latest diagnostic equipment and regularly trained staff are the guarantee of professionally performed work. All repairs are carried out according to standards prescribed by the producer and using original spare parts. The service company guarantees the carried out repair for 6 months. On request a repair can be carried out within 48 hours and within 24 hours in the central repair shop in Zlín.

In cooperation with the PPL collecting service defective tools are transported twice a day to central repair shops and after repair they are similarly delivered either directly to the customer or back to the Collecting Centre.

If a repair is uneconomical, i.e. when the price of the repair exceeds 50% of the purchase price of the tool to be repaired, the customer is offered to purchase a new tool with a 10% discount. Tools for repair may of course be sent also by post to the central repair shop in Zlín. Here you can also order small spare parts to be sent cash-on-delivery.

The amateur electrical tools Black&Decker are guaranteed by the producer for 24 months from the date of sale to the customer.

The professional electrical tools DEWALT are guaranteed by the producer for 24 months from the date of sale if the goods is sold to a natural person - consumer for his private direct consumption (section 620 of the Civil Code) or for 12 monhts from the date of sale if the goods is sold to a legal person – entrepreneur for his commercial or other business activity (section 429 of the Commercial Code).

Any guarantee claims must be substantiated by the original letter of guarantee and a proof of purchase. A letter of guarantee is valid only if the date of sale, catalogue number of the tool and lot number are marked on it and provided with the seller’s stamp.

The guarantee shall not apply in the following cases:
 
  • damage due to incorrect handling or use (see also special instructions for operators);
  • damage due to external causes;
  • subsequent damage due to incorrect assembly of cutting and drilling tools or due to the use of tools not approved by the producer;
  • overload of tool/engine;
  • use of the tool with removed protective equipment;
  • any technical modifications or repairs of the tools by other than an authorized specialized repair shop.
